While claiming that there will be no issue with inoculation of the second dose with AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle said today that the inoculation of the second dose would commence from April 19.
She told Parliament that 300,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were in stock to be used for the second dose.
Responding to a question raised by SJB MP Gayantha Karunathilaka, the Minister said vaccination of the second dose would take place from April 19 to June 30 and added that the stocks of AstraZeneca vaccines that have been ordered from India would be received during this period.
“The rest of the vaccine stocks due from COVAX facility will also be received during this period. So, there will be no issue in administering the second dose with AstraZeneca vaccine,” she said. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
