Presidential candidate of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Gotabaya Rajapaksa said, if I am elected to office, would definitely fulfil the request made by Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith to appoint an independent commission to probe Easter Sunday terrorist attack. Mr. Rajapaksa said in a statement that he would ensure that the country is free from terrorism and extremism for the greater benefit of all Sri Lankans.
He said he paid attention to the request made by Cardinal Ranjith.
“I fully understand the mental agony faced by His Eminent Cardinal Ranjith because justice has not been meted out on behalf of people killed and injured in the senseless bomb attack,” he said. He said the Cardinal had requested for the appointment of an independent commission to identify those behind this terrorist attack and others who made way for it by negligence of duty. He said the Cardinal made this request not as a religious dignitary of the Catholic community but on behalf of all Sri Lankans.

What a timely promise? Perfect response to His Eminence's statement that He would meet the candidate who promises an independent investigation. Then what about BBS instigated attacks on churches in the past?

This is an arch hypocrite and an oportunist. Why couldn't this man and his government probe Lasantha's murder and other cases and bring the culprits to book? Now he he is talking about probing the Easter Sunday attacks! Who is fooling whom? You can fool some of the people some of the time; but not all the people all the time.
