While a postponement to the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination has not been decided on yet, Education Minister G.L. Pieris said that if it is postponed, students will be informed six weeks before the new date.

He said the examination was scheduled to held from January 18 to 27 2021, having already been postponed once due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, the Ministry is looking into the possibilities of holding the examination on the scheduled date following the advice of the Health Ministry, Minister Pieris said.

“Unfortunately, if the pandemic situation gets worse, the next date will be announced as mentioned earlier. 50 per cent of the grade 11 classes in schools around the country were not started due to the current pandemic situation. But all the students will face for one examination,” the Minister said.

"The Ministry would look for another appropriate date to hold the examination and the date will be announced six weeks before the examination date," Minister Pieris added. (CHATURANGA SAMARAWICKRAMA)

    'FAIL'!

Hello, Minister of Education, try to get your priorities in order before trying to hoodwink the hapless student as a pawn to reach your own political gains. You made a big hype of reopening the schools, now see what has happened. Eat humble pie, Prof. foot-in-mouth. Fail, Fail.

Few days ago you said, no delay. Now this, FAIL ne?

What's the big deal from Jan 18th to 27th? Study the consequences and change if necessary. There are another 2 months for it. Tourist Board is trying to bring in foreigners from 1st Jan. If so why not have it completed before 31st December?
