Heavy traffic was reported along the road in front of the Leprosy Hospital in Hendala, Wattala due to a protest organised by the residents against the government’s move to declare the hospital as a quarantine centre for coronavirus.

The Health Ministry declared the Leprosy Hospital as the first quarantine centre in the country to prevent the Coronavirus (COVID-19) from entering into Sri Lanka.

This centre would be used to quarantine all passengers arriving in Sri Lanka from foreign countries such as Italy, South Korea and Iran for 14 days as a precautionary measure to prevent coronavirus spread.

Selfish people. I heard people who occupy the land around the Hospital had done that illegally.

Where did you hear that from? Or are you coming up with stories?

Those foreign employees are a significant part of the Sri Lankan economy. Additionally, there are a huge number of students currently in foreign countries. At least have empathy for those who live abroad.
