Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said yesterday any increase of the Covid-19 cases due to public movements during the festive period would be visible in four to six weeks time.
Dr. Samaraweera told Daily Mirror, people who were infected by the coronavirus would show symptoms only after the normal incubation period of two weeks.
“If there are increased infections mainly due to movements and activities during the New Year period, it will be visible only after four to six weeks time,” he said.
He reiterated that PCR testing would be carried out only on a scientific, rational basis. (Kelum Bandara)
