The Colombo High Court today issued arrest warrants on Nissanka Senadipathi and Palitha Fernando as they had not appeared in court to face charges of giving and accepting a bribe of Rs.35.5 million in connection with the floating armoury belonging to Avant-Garde Maritime Services.
President's Counsel Gamini Marapana appearing for the suspects informed the Court that first suspect Senadipathi is residing in Singapore and second suspect Fernando is currently in remand custody.
However, High Court Judge Shashi Mahendran observed that in the lack of sufficient material to explain the suspects’ absence in Court, directed that sureties be noticed to appear in court on August 7, 2019. (Shehan Chamika Silva)
