Govt. to lax importing ceramic products for 180 days, sarees for 90 days on a loan basis

The cabinet approval was granted to amend the Gazette Notification recently issued suspending the importation of ceramic products, importation of sarees other than batik and handloom garments and textiles.
Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambuwella told the media today after the weekly cabinet briefing, the importation of suspended ceramic products on a 180-day loan basis and the importation of sarees other than batik and handloom garments and other textiles on a 90-day loan basis will be allowed.
The cabinet ministers agreed to amend the Gazette Notification No. 2214/56 issued on 11.02.2021 under the Import and Export Control Act No. 1 of 1969.
He said the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Finance Minister to table the said gazette notification in the parliament for approval in terms of Section 20 of the said Act. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
