The Government attention has been drawn to expedite the adjudication of child abuse cases and to provide closed court facilities to take testimonies in a manner which will not disrupt child’s well-being, the President’s Media Division said.
In a statement issued, it said that the matter had been highlighted at a discussion chaired by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa held at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday about the future activities of the State Ministry of Women and Child Development, Pre-School & Primary Education, School Infrastructure & Education Services.
“The need of passing the necessary legislations by an Act of Parliament to establish a National Committee on Women for the benefit of desperate and victimized females, was also discussed in detail at yesterday's meeting,” the PMD said.
Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, State Minister Piyal Nishantha, Secretary to the President P.B. Jayasundera, Secretaries to Cabinet and State Ministries and officials of line institutions were present at the discussion. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

Child abuse cases should be investigated much more quickly. I don't like a house with grids for children.
