Govt. has not signed SOFA: PM tells BASAL

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told a delegation from the Sri Lanka Bar Association that the government had not signed the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with the United States.

The delegation called on the Prime Minister on 17 July, 2019 and sought clarification on SOFA, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Land Bill.

Bar Association President Kalinga Indatissa PC, Deputy President Shavindra Fernando PC, Secretary Kaushalya Navarathne AAL and other members of the Executive Committee of the BASL were present at the meeting.

Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana PC, Justice Minister Thalatha Athukorale, Prime Minister’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake and Director (Development Communications) Sudarshana Gunawardana were present.(Kelum Bandara)
