Four students in connection with separate incidents related to the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination were arrested in Mullaitheevu and Kekirawa, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said a 27-year-old person was arrested yesterday at Silawatta school in the Mullaitheevu police area for cheating by impersonation.
Police found that the impersonated person was from the Parakkulam area in Nedunkerny. He sat for the O/L examination impersonating another candidate yesterday.
He will be produced before the Mullaitheevu Magistrate's Court today, the Police said.
Meanwhile, another assaulting incident was reported in the Madatugama examination centre in the Kekirawa Police area yesterday.
There, a 16-year-old O/L candidate had been assaulted by three other students.
The student who was injured by the assault had been admitted to the Dambulla hospital.
The three students involved in the attack were arrested by the Kekirawa police yesterday.
DIG Rohana also said the Police are vigilant on issues such as these during the ongoing O/L examination.
The Police have been instructed to take stern actions against the wrongdoers or the persons who are indulged in violent activities at the examination centres or in the vicinity of the centres.
