Father, daughter killed in train collision

A father and daughter were killed when the train travelling from Kankasanthurai to Colombo collided with their motorcycle at an unprotected railway crossing at Wadurawa, in Veyangoda this morning.    

The bodies are kept at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital and the police are carrying out further investigations.

    Hundreds of innocent killings due to unprotected railway crossings throughout the country are being reported almost everyday. but no proper remedies seem to be taken up by the relevant authorities so far. Irresponsible!!

    How tragic. Every yime a train accident happens, Ministers and officials talk about installing gates at unprotected level crossings. Bur nothing happens. Wandurawa is on the main line and trains are more frequent on this line. Gates are a must at every level crossing.
