Two women were killed and three others were injured after a jeep they were travelling in crashed into the rear of a lorry in between the Dodangoda and Gelanigama exit in Southern Expressway (E01) last night.
The accident had occurred around 11.30 p.m at the 31.7-R point on the Expressway while they were travelling to Colombo from Matara.
At the time of the accident, there were five people including four women in the jeep, the police said.
The driver of the jeep and an injured woman were admitted to the Nagoda Hospital. Another three women were admitted to the Bandaragama and Horana hospitals after the accident, they added.
