Two officials, reportedly attached to the Eastern Province Governor’s secretariat staff, were arrested after they were found in possession of forty eight T56 bullets at a political office on Telecom Road, Kattankudy this morning, a Kattankudy police officer said.
He said the office had been used as a political office of Eastern Province Governor M.L.A.M. Hizbullah.
“Those arrested were identified as N.M.A. Kareem and M.I. Nazar worked as an assistant manager and a public relations officer respectively,” the officer said.
Two office identity cards issued in 2019 by the EP Governor’s office were also found in possession of the two officials.
Investigations would focus on finding out how the T56 bullets came to be inside the political office. (Bigun Menaka Gamage)
