Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri today said he will make a statement on the arrest of IGP Pujith Jayasundara and Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando who are witnesses of Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday suicide bomb attacks.

The Deputy Speaker who is also the Chairman of the PSC told Daily Mirror that he will make a statement on it next week. “I am in Moneragala at the moment and I will make a statement on the arrest of IGP and Former Defence Secretary next week when I return to Colombo".

The PSC is to meet again on July 10, 2019.

PSC member Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka on June 29 proposed that Hemasiri Fernando, who was arrested on Tuesday and Chief of Defence Staff Ravindra Wijegunaratne should be summoned before the PSC probing the Easter Sunday attacks to get clarification on the transfer of IP Nishantha Silva who was the OIC in Crimes Investigation Unit.
