Medical tests for issuing driving licences for dual-purpose vehicles and light vehicles could be obtained at State hospitals in two weeks’ time, Transport State Minister Dilum Amunugama said.
Speaking to the Daily mirror he said facilities would be assigned to State hospitals to issue the medical reports.
The Cabinet approval had been granted to conduct the NTMI medical examination at 150 government hospitals.
The medial certificates would be obtained through the Out Patient Department (OPD) of the respective Government hospitals.
However, the heavy vehicle licenses should be obtained through the NTMI Nugegoda head office and other branches.
Minister Amunugama also said discussions were underway on checking the possibilities of issuing driving licences for the disabled in the future. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
