The Supreme Court today re-fixed the hearing of the Fundamental Rights Petition filed on behalf of Dr Shafi Shihabdeen for August 6, 2019.
The Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Buwaneka Aluwihare, Justice T. B. Dehideniya and Justice Padman Surasena fixed the matter after it was observed that notices had not been received by certain Respondents.
The Court directed the Registrar to re-issue the notices.
Dr Shihabdeen challenged in this petition that his arrest and detention was illegal and unlawful.
Deputy Solicitor General Thusith Mudalige appeared on behalf of the Attorney General. Faisz Musthapha PC with Faiza Markar, Hejaaz Hizbullah and Hafeel Farisz appeared for the Petitioner. (Shehan Chamika Silva)
