Health officers from the Colombo Municipal Council yesterday urged all those who had been vaccinated and who would receive the anti COVID19 jabs in the coming weeks and months, to carefully preserve their vaccination cards as it would be required for the second dosage.
Chief Medical Officer of the CMC, Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni told Daily Mirror that the vaccination cards issued at the centers, after an individual was inoculated contained a serial number which would be necessary to receive the second dosage within 10 weeks.
He further said, they had already received complaints from several individuals who had lost the card which would make it difficult for the health officials to trace back their records.
Dr.wijemuni said in the future, the vaccination cards may also likely be required by embassies and employers, as a proof that the individual has been vaccinated.
“We may have to furnish a letter to some entities in the future like embassies, employers etc. In order to do that the individual will have to produce that card to us, for us to be able to issue a letter saying this person has been vaccinated.
Already there have been a couple of cases reported to us where people have lost their cards. So I strongly advise them not to lose it and to keep it and protect and preserve it,”dr.wijemuni said.
He further said that when visiting a vaccination center, people were required to provide their name, address and NIC or passport number which was fed into the database at the Ministry of Health.the information will then be maintained there for future reference.
After providing these details, individuals could proceed to receive their jab after which the vaccination cards would be issued.(JAMILA HUSAIN)
