Four parcels containing kush (a strain of cannabis) and cocaine was seized by Customs officers at the Central Mail Exchange (CME) Colombo this morning, Customs media spokesman and Director Sunil Jayarathne said.
He said the raid was conducted as a result of long term investigation according to information received to the customs Narcotics Control Unit.
Accordingly, 500 grammes of kush cannabis valued at Rs. 6 million and 80 grammes of cocaine valued at 2 million were apprehended during the raid, he said
“These parcels were received from England, America and Netherland to local individuals addressed in Colombo, Nawala, Wadduwa and Ahangama areas,” Mr Jayarathne said.
The parcels are to be handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) to conduct further investigations, he added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
