A container truck allegedly containing substandard coconut oil has been seized in Dambulla last night, Police said.
The container truck was seized while it was parked at a private warehouse near the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre.
Samples of the stock is to be tested to verify if it contains any substance unfit for human consumption. (Kanchana Ariyadasa)

Either the local produce oil is also bad or someone has released the imports without checking! Couldn't have fallen off the sky!

Better to avoid buying all types of coconut,vegetable and sun flower oils as these can come back to market in various forms.

We don't care which government or party. They should be held responsible for allowing to import sub standard health hazard food items to the country.This has been happening for so many years and not only now. Those who authorize and those traders who import should be punished heavily.
