Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Patali Champika Ranawaka said yesterday he would seek to legislate on the Contempt of Court through the presentation of a private member’s bill in Parliament.
Mr. Ranawaka said the legal division of his political movement called ‘43rd Brigade’ had worked out such a piece of law.
“Today, there is no specific Act that outlines the procedure for dealing with the Contempt of Law.
It is the discretion of judges. So, I decided to try to legislate on it,” he said.
