The total number of COVID-19 infections in the Colombo District surpassed 30,000 with 78 patients have been identified on Thursday.
Accordingly, the total number of second wave COVID-19 cases identified from the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda and its extended clusters have increased to 76,588 as of last morning since October 4.
A total number of 384 patients were identified in the country yesterday, and among them 33 were overseas returnees, while 64 cases were reported from Ratnapura, 35 from Kandy, 21 from Gampaha and 17 other patients have been reported from other districts.
The total number of COVID-19 infections that have been identified in the country so far stand at 84,609, while 80,836 of them have recovered.
However, at present, only 3,284 patients are being treated in hospitals and treatment centres and 10,312 people are being kept in quarantine centres as of today.
The COVID-19 deaths in the country has climbed to 489 with five deaths were reported yesterday.
Meanwhile, a total number of 12,883 PCR tests have been carried out yesterday alone. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
