CID would have found out the real culprits behind the Easter Sunday attacks by now, if it had been given a free hand, UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said today.
Mr. Bandara told a press conference that the issue today is that no proper investigations have been conducted on the Easter Sunday carnage. “We opine that even the presidential commission which probed the attack did not perform its duty effectively."
“Former President Maithripala Sirisena should accept the responsibility without criticizing others, as how Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa who accepted the responsibility on behalf of the former regime,” he added.
“Minister of Public Security Sarath Weerasekera came up with one conclusion, while the Presidential Commission had come out with different conclusions in its report. Therefore one wonders as to why funds were wasted on the commission in such a situation,” he lamented. (Yohan Perera)
