Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake said the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) would purchase 230 megawatts of electricity from two barge-mounted power plants in another two weeks.
He told Daily Mirror the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) approved the initiative to anchor the two floating power plants in Colombo and Galle. “We will purchase electricity at Rs.24.70 per unit,” he said.

This is no surprise to us. The minister did not waste any time after taking over the power ministry. Even the refusal to provide fuel by the CPC is part of this drama.

Barge mounted power plants must be from some foreign country, designed and produced by their Engineers. What contribution Sri Lankan University qualified Engineers have made to Sri Lanka other than maintaining systems which any Technician could do. Do we need Engineering Faculties in Sri Lanka ?

Commissions galore !! There should be full transparency before committing at this stage as everyone tries to get rich before next election! ! Remember Ravi regarding his Central Bank case which is still under investigation !!

“We will purchase electricity at Rs.24.70 per unit,” At these prices per Kwh it looks like Ravi is also getting about Rs 3.57 per unit into his pocket .... well done tax payer !!
