Beliatta Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Siril Munasinghe has been arrested today over an assault of a former PS member, police said.
They said the Chairman was arrested after he surrendered to the Beliatta Police Station this morning.
The suspect was wanted in connection with the assault incident which took place at the Beliatta Pradeshiya Sabha on July 18.
The PS Chairman would be produced in the Tangalle Magistrate's Court today.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

I have been following the Daily Mirror online editions for a considerable length of time. Unfortunately your paper adopt a very subtle practice when reporting this kind of politician’s involved thuggery. If the person involved is from UNP you straight away highlight the fact he/ she is a UNPer. However if it were to be a SLPP affiliated politico you just totally ignore his/ her affiliation and just come out with a line as the above. Why this double standard? It is somewhat below the standard expected from a decent newspaper and more in line with dirty tabloids
