Azath Salley arrested

Leader of the National Unity Front and former Western Province Governor Asath Sally, has been arrested by the CID in connection with a statement he had made on March 10, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said Salley was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act following the instructions of the Attorney General. Salley was arrested at Kollupitiya at around 6.00 pm today.
Attorney General has advised the DIG of the CID that credible information was disclosed of the offences committed under the Penal Code, PTA and the ICCPR Act by Asath Sally.
