An arrest warrant has been issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayararnte against UPFA MP Jayantha Samaraweera over his failure to appear in the Court.
The case was filed against the six MPs including Minister Wimal Weerawansa and MP Jayantha Samaraweera on charges of causing disturbance to the public by holding a protest outside the UN Office in Colombo.
The demonstration was held against the visit of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein on February 6, 2016.
Earlier, in 2018, The Colombo Chief Magistrate also issued warrants on the suspects as they failed to appear in Court when the case, which was filed against them, was taken up for hearing. (Yoshitha Perera)
