Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said that the arrest of former Minister Champika Ranawaka has violated the due procedures upheld so far by the current parliament regarding arrests of parliamentarians.
In a Twitter message, the Speaker said such haphazard arrests by law enforcement officers will propagate anxiety and distress. “With due respect, I look forward to the judiciary to render justice,” he also said.

Bias speaker. we know your record. Anyway so what. You are only chairing 224 other rogues, and so no need to ask you lot to arrest an MP that committed a criminal offence.
