Department Motor Traffic (DMT) district offices at Anuradhapura, Matara, Hambantota and National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI) in Galle were closed temporarily due to COVID-19 threat in those areas, DMT Commissioner A. H. K. Jagath Chandrasiri said.
He said the decision was taken subsequent to instructions by the Health Authorities after visits by infected people to the above offices in view to obtain services.
After careful inspection by Health officials and their advice, the above three DMT offices would be opened.
The National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI) in Galle district also closed temporarily after visits by viral infected people who came there for tests.
However, the remaining district offices and the DMT head office will remain opened for public services. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
