The ‘Pavidihanda’ Organisation headed by Venerable Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera launched a march towards the statue of Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala, whose birth anniversary fell today.
The march was organized in favour of the Government’s decision to ban cattle slaughter. Cattle were paraded in the march in a bid to convince people on gravity of slaughtering cattle. Pix by Nimalsiri Edirisinghe

So sad to see cattle being tied and pulled along the road. Imagine someone tying a rope around your neck and pulling you around.

What about the gravity, torture of elephants in the temples? This is only to divide society because for Muslims beef trade is important. When you exclude people, they become radicals. We are all Srilankans

We request the public not to make this a point to gain political millage some one. Those who don't eat won't eat but you cannot force people not to eat. This is just a farce for political gain.

A very good initiative, but has anyone considered increase in unwanted cattle? Do we let them roam free on the roads or encroach wildlife sanctuaris? This too needs to be addressed.
