About 9000 police officers have been deployed to conduct traffic operations, apprehend drunk drivers and drivers who violate road rules and regulations during the festive season, Police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said 400 drunk drivers have been arrested since December 20 to-date.
He said five persons have been killed in road accidents yesterday and requested people to take all the precautionary actions as there is a tendency of traffic accidents these days.
