Sri Lankan traffic police can you please stop these reckless drivers getting on express ways!! Sri Lankan buses drive like maniacs on it and so many incidents since of late, it’s too scary to drive in Sri Lankan express ways because many who have a license have no clues about highway rules!!!

Please go and check the driving schools and the network which ultimately issue Driving licence. In most cases the driving schools and the so called chiefs having very good connection with the Driving schools and issues DL getting bribes. If possible take the new DL holders randomly and Check them WHERE THEY ARE?????

long time I wonder how the Highway Express busses can speed with around 140 km/h, why we have to go 100km/h. So much speed checks, much police, but no one see that.

They also do not drive on the left lane. These bus drivers are always in the right overtaking lane or using half of both lanes. Arrogant idiots behind the wheel. Police inaction bribe taking , are all reasons for this continous behaviour. Send the bill to the bus owners. Minimum 5 year jail sentence to the drivers.

I also observed most of bus drivers (including C.T.B drivers) drive their buses above 110 km/h speed limit in the Colombo Matara express way. Police should take action to monitor all passenger buses, unfortunately they only moniter speed limit of light vehicles.

Only deterent is to put that Pannipitiya incident Traffic COP back on the streets. He could be more effective than the Court action. Lets pressure to have that Traffic Cop on the roads.

Main issue is the Highway discipline. When I drive on the highways I always notice the bad habits of roadways are practiced on the highways. Primary cause of accidents on the Highway is not understanding of WHO HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY. Often cuts in front of a speeding vehicle expecting it to slowdown or stop and give you the space as on a normal road is causing all of these accidents. We would see more of these incidents as the highways gets more congested as well. There should be a separate test to qualify someone to drive on the highway unless that person has an international drivers license from a country designated as developed.

Accidents in Lankan expressways a daily occurence!! Scores of people die and get injured due to negligence!! Government should make all drives using expressways pass a qualifications test mandatory !!
