Seventeen people have died and 271,110 people belonging to 67, 617 families have been affected in ten districts due to adverse weather conditions experienced in the country, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.
They said people in Gampaha, Ratnapura, Colombo, Puttalam, Kalutara, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalla, Kandy, Kurunegala and Galle districts have been affected.
Accordingly, five people were injured two persons are missing, the DMC said.
17 houses are partially damaged and 978 houses fully damaged. 26,806 individuals belonged to 6,177 families have been directed to 106 safe locations, the DMC said.
The deaths have been reported from Gampaha (3), Ratnapura (3), Colombo (1), Puttalam (3), Kalutara (1), Kegalle (5) and Galle (1), DMC added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
