An innovative two-in-one that converts from a laptop to a tablet PC has been launched in Sri Lanka by E-tel, offering the combination of technology and affordability that propelled the brand’s meteoric success in the local smartphone market in a new product line.

Unlike most tablets in the market which are Android powered, the E-tel KeyTab comes pre-installed with genuine, state-of-the-art Microsoft Windows 10 Operating System software. Additionally, the KeyTab has a screen that separates from the keyboard in order to convert into a tablet, offering users the choice of using it in either mode.

With its versatile 10.1-inch screen, powerful 1.83 GHz, quad core Intel Atom processor with L2 2MB Cache Memory, 32GB Internal Storage, 2GB DDR3 Random Access Memory and Intel HD Graphics, the E-tel KeyTab delivers the robust performance of a laptop with the expedience of a tablet, eliminating the need for two devices, Dr. Tariq Marikar, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Brantel, the sole distributor of E-tel products islandwide, said.

Offering SIM HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, USB and Micro HDMI ports, the KeyTab has a high-quality 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera for crisp still photographs and video recordings, and an external memory slot that can accommodate up to 32GB. A 6000mAh battery provides up to 10 hours of work time on a single charge. The E-tel KeyTab will retail at Rs.34,900.

Microsoft Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Manager Brian Kealey said, “The E-tel KeyTab represents an exciting value proposition which is exactly what a market like Sri Lanka needs. There are large numbers of students and corporate executives requiring work-space mobility that require these types of devices. This device will satisfy their work and recreational needs, whilst ensuring the use of genuine software for online safety and reliability.”

Intel EM Ltd Sri Lanka Liaisons Office Country Business Manager Indika De Zoysa said, “The Intel-powered E-tel KeyTab is a great example of the innovative two-in-one devices that offer users both the laptop and tablet experiences at affordable prices.”

Dr. Marikar added, “As a smartphone brand, E-tel has made huge progress in the market, especially among adolescent users, upwardly mobile young executives and those upgrading from feature phones, to be among the top three highest selling brands in the segment. The E-tel KeyTab is perfectly positioned to cater to this segment, as well as to a wider group of potential tab users looking for the versatility of the Microsoft platform.”

Besides its comprehensive portfolio of mobile phones and the new KeyTab, E-tel also has an Enterprise Solutions range under the same brand, comprising of E-tel Enterprise Servers, CITRIX  Clients that support major Telco Cloud offerings such as Akaza from Sri Lanka Telecom and next generation iPC desktop computers focused on reduced form factors and energy consumption, launched one year ago to support the shift by many businesses into Cloud enabled products such as SLT Akaza and Microsoft o365  & Azure platforms.

Brantel has been in operation in Sri Lanka since 2004 and launched the E-tel brand in 2008.
