IPM Sri Lanka - the Nation’s leader in HRM – expanded its presence in the hill capital Kandy by adding many additional facilities to cater to the rapidly growing requirements of IPM members, professionals and students living in proximity to Sri Lanka’s hill capital Kandy recently with the presence of IPM Sri Lanka President – Rohitha Amarapala and Chief Guest - Prof. Shantha K Hennanayake - Senior Lecturer, University of Peradeniya.
IPM’s Regional Center in Kandy now includes additional lecture rooms, lecture halls with hiring facilities, a modern well laid out library with a spacious study/reference area, a well-designed and spacious canteen and other state of the art facilities to support the rapid growth in its activities. IPM’s Kandy Regional Center is situated at William Gopallawa Mawatha in the center of Kandy town and is easily accessible to motorists as well as pedestrian travelers and also serves the towns and communities in close proximity to Kandy such as Matale, Gampola and Nawalapitiya.
“We are happy to expand the facilities offered to our members, students and other professionals who utilize the services of IPM Sri Lanka’s Kandy Regional Center. We have no doubt that all persons visiting and utilizing the expanded services at this regional center will be delighted with the new additions” said Rohitha Amarapala-President IPM Sri Lanka at the opening ceremony.
“The establishment and now the expansion of facilities of IPM Sri Lanka Kandy Regional Center are key milestones in our strategy of taking our services to the people as against people thronging to Colombo to seek our services. We invite all persons be they HR professionals, professionals of other disciplines or students to visit and experience the new facilities that we have made available in Kandy,” he added.
“I am grateful to IPM for establishing the Kandy Regional Center to cater to the needs and requirements of the professionals and students in the Central Province. They now do not have to travel down to Colombo to fulfill their HRM related requirements, and secondly for expanding the services and facilities in this center to cater for the rapidly growing needs of the future” said Prof. Shantha K Hennanayake addressing the gathering.
The IPM Kandy Regional Center was established in 2013 as an entry point to the hill country which experienced very high growth rates due to the realization of the importance and highly visible nature of HRM in both the private as well as public sector. Many interesting programmes - that are conducted regularly by IPM Sri Lanka at its regional centers including the Kandy Regional Center - such as “HRM for Life” targeting professionals and students, career days for students aspiring to make their own contribution to the well-being, development and growth of themselves as well as the country has helped to improve the image of HRM in Sri Lanka and the vital role that it plays in day to day operations as well as strategic management of organizations. This is a key factor which led to the growth of the HRM function in Sri Lanka.
IPM Sri Lanka keeps pace with the new trends and concepts in HR by engaging continuously with the business community to share experiences, thoughts and insights in order to enrich and enhance the HR profession. It actively encourages and promotes members’ participation at international conferences and fora to provide relevant exposure, build networks and conduct research into areas of interest to the HR profession in Sri Lanka.
