Counsel Pulasthi Rupasinghe appearing on behalf of former President Maithripala Sirisena, through his junior counsel informed the PCoI last week that he will not cross-examine former SIS Director SDIG Nilantha Jayawardena based on his client’s instructions.
Meanwhile, President’s Counsel Anura Meddegoda appearing on behalf of former IGP Pujith Jayasundara informed the Commission that he will cross-examine SDIG Jayawardena on September 14.
Counsel Upul Kumaraperuma appearing on behalf of former SDIG CID Ravi Senaratne has cross-examined SDIG Jayawardena but the Commission had decided to inquire most of the parts in camera.
Earlier, officers attached to the PCoI visited former President Maithripala Sirisena’s official residence and recorded a 9-hour long statement from him with regard to the attacks.
