Police have found 193 live rounds of ammunition which are similar to those used by the LTTE and a Arul 89 RPG shell also used by the outfit at a two storied house in Pitakotte on Saturday.
However, police said that the items were not connected to the terrorists who had exploded suicide bombs at three churches and three luxury hotels on Easter Sunday. Mirihana Police said that a 70-year-old Burgher woman had also been arrested with the items seized. They said that the ammunition and the RPG shell had been found hidden under the staircase during a search operation conducted following a tip-off. Arul bombs were a product of the LTTE. Upon questioning the woman who had been at the house at the time of the search had told police that the items were meant to be used as ornaments at the house. The suspect and the items recovered were to be produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate.
