Doctors surgically removed the 12 wasps that had entered the nostrils of a 71-year old villager of Kandegedara in Hali-ela.
Dr. Palitha Rajapakse of the Badulla General Hospital said the doctors had removed the wasps and said the man was admitted to Kandegedara district hospital in a critical condition before being transferred to the Badulla General Hospital.
He said judging by the injuries, the man appears to have been stung by more than 1,000 wasps and was out of danger.
