Veteran journalist Dr. Edwin Ariyadasa passes away

  • Mr. Ariyadasa was born in Unawatuna, Galle on December 3, 1922

Mr. Ariyadasa was born in Unawatuna, Galle on December 3, 1922 and was educated at Mahinda College Galle and University of Ceylon.   

  • He played a pioneering role in promoting media as a subject in higher education and prepared the syllabus for mass communication at the University of Kelaniya 

He worked in a number of newspapers including Daily News, Sunday Observer, Silumina and Janatha. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the popular Sinhalese journal Nawa Yugaya. He played a pioneering role in promoting media as a subject in higher education and prepared the syllabus for mass communication at the University of Kelaniya. He also worked as a lecturer at the faculty of Arts at the University of Colombo..   His funeral arrangements will be notified later
