UNP should join Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) considering its present situation, SJB National Organiser Tissa Attanayake said yesterday.
Mr. Attanayake said that UNP should realise its position at least now.
“UNP should realise that it could not get a single MP elected to Parliament and that it had not been able to appoint any MP to Parliament through the national list to date. The party should join hands with SJB even now,” Mr. Attanayake said.
“However we do not know whether SJB will come to an electoral agreement with the UNP to contest future elections together,” he added.
On a different note he said SJB will stage a protest against the environment pollution and the deforestation on Wednesday near the Vihara Maha Devi Park.
SJB MP Manusha Nanayakkara who also participated in the press conference said the allegations made by his party against the deforestation are accurate.
