Former prime minister and several former MPs from the UNP yesterday met Director General of Health Services, Dr Anil Jasinghe and pledged their support to the government efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 infection, UNP Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake said yesterday.

He said the others who met Dr. Jasinghe were former MPs Daya Gamage and Arjuna Ranatunga while Mr Wickremesinghe was connected to the discussion via Skype.   “We inquired about the situation pertaining to COVID-19 and assured our party’s support to combat the disease,” Mr. Karunanayake said. “We also focused on the safety of areas in the Colombo City where there was speculation that the disease had spread.”
