Two Mawlavis who had carried out weapons training under National Thowheed Jama’at (NTJ) leader Zahran Hashim at a camp in Nuwara Eliya were arrested yesterday, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
He said the suspects were arrested following information received by the Terrorist Investigations Division (TID).
The suspects are: Mohammad Haneefa Mohommad Rizmi (28), the Mawlavi of the Jummah Mosque in Hettipola and Mohammad Nazar Mohommad Nimshard (29) the Mawlavi of the Jummah Mosque in Nikaweratiya.
