Twenty five Muslim organisations in Sri Lanka, in a collective statement, said the ‘very high percentage of Covid-19 deaths among Muslims is a major concern for them.
The statement said the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic situation is really alarming and the death rate in the country is increasing day by day.
“In addition the very high percentage of deaths among Muslims is a major cause for concern as a community.
We, make this appeal to our brothers and sisters to continue to be more vigilant and act wisely, taking note of the rate and statistics of the Covid-19 related Janazas, as the situation is getting really bad on a daily basis ,” the statement said.
They urged people to take the utmost precautions as per the heath guidelines to avoid contracting the Covid-19 virus and contact the area Public Health Inspectors in the event of infections. They also urge Muslims to encourage to get vaccinated.
