Three persons who were carrying swords and broke into a house in Mattuwil area in Chavakachcheri, Jaffna were taken into custody on Wednesday night by the Chavakachcheri Police.
Sources revealed that the suspects had arrived at the house carrying swords to attack the occupants. But the neighbours had alerted the Chavakachcheri Police, who had then carried out a raid and arrested the suspects with three swords of different shapes and three face masks in their possession. The residents claimed the suspects belong to the infamous AWA group had requested the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
The arrested suspects were produced before the Chavakachcheri Magistrate and were remanded until March 19.
The Chavakachcheri police are conducting further investigations.
