Suspect with links to ‘Is’ arrested in Dharga Town

A 23-year-old man from Dharga Town in Aluthgama was arrested on Thursday night by the Police for allegedly maintaining connections to the Islamic State (IS).  

Police said the suspect, Mohammad Azzmi Mohammad Adheer was arrested on a tip off by the STF and was alleged to have maintained connections with the IS via the social media platform.  

He is to be handed over to the CID.  

Meanwhile, the Police said another six people were arrested on Thursday in connection with the bomb attacks on Easter Sunday.   Four of the suspects were arrested at Kanagapuram, the fifth at Lumbini Viharaya and the sixth arrested at Kanaka Ambigai in Kilinochchi.  

The suspects will be produced in the Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court shortly.
