The National College of Education in Sri Pada has been temporarily closed down till February 5 due to an outbreak of a viral fever.
Officials of the Kotagala Health Superintendent’s Office instructed the Dean of the College to shut it down temporarily.
About 75 students of the College had obtained medical treatment from the Out Patient Department (OPD) of the Kotagala Divisional Hospital for fever and breathing difficulties on January 29 and more than 50 students had come to Kotagala and Dikoya Hospitals yesterday as well.
Kotagala Public Health Inspector (PHI) said special investigations would be carried out at the College and steps would be taken to sterilize the College premises thereafter.
