Sri Lanka together with several other countries participated in the United Nations International Charity Luncheon organized by the United Nations Women’s Guild Vienna (UNWG) on September 22, 2022, a statement from the Foreign Ministry said.   

The Luncheon was held at Vienna International Center, Vienna with the participation of around 22 Embassies and Permanent Missions based in Vienna.   

A large crowd attended the fund-raising Luncheon which was organised to raise funds for the Children’s Charity Programme 2023 of the United Nations. Established in 1967, the UNWG assists children in need and mother-childcare programmes across the world.   

The Luncheon gave Sri Lanka an opportunity to promote the destination, cuisine and Ceylon Tea.
