Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Chairman Prof. G.L. Peiris said yesterday his party was compelled to go to court as the government remained adamant not to hold Provincial Council (PC) elections.
Prof. Peiris told Dailymirror that the Court of Appeal (CA) issued notice on the respondents – the Prime Minister, the Speaker, members of the Elections Commission and the Delimitation Review Committee – in connection with the writ of mandamus filed by the two former Chief Ministers on behalf of SLPP seeking elections.
The case will be taken up for hearing on April 5.
