Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Pakistan for providing training opportunities for Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) personnel of various ranks and requested the Pakistan Air Force to expand its scope of assistance.
He said this when Pakistan’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan called on him at Temple Trees on Thursday.
The Prime Minister’s Media Division said the discussion was focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and the strengthening of security.
The Prime Minister thanked the visiting Pakistani General for the contribution made by Pakistan during the war with the LTTE.
Professor G.L. Peiris, former Central Bank governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and Air Force commander Sumangala Dias were also present.
