Victim attempted to escape a fire at a high-rise building
A Sri Lankan national reportedly fell to his death while escaping a fire at a high-rise building in Dhaka’s Banani area (Bangladesh) this afternoon.
Deceased Niras Chandra, was pronounced dead to the Kurmitola General Hospital, said the hospital’s Director Brig. Gen. Qazi Rashid-Un-Nabi.
He sustained serious injuries as he jumped off the building to escape the fire and died before he was brought to the hospital, he added.
A total of six people had died so far in the devastating fire at the 22-storey FR Tower in Banani, a commercial hub of Dhaka.
So far, 41 victims have been admitted to the hospital, however, their conditions are not serious, he said, adding that most of them are suffering from breathing complications from inhaling smoke. (The Daily Star)
