By Yohan Perera

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will decide on its next step after discussing with the party members, party General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said yesterday.

Mr. Madduma Bandara said he was happy with his party’s performance at the general elections.

“We are happy about our performance coming into the elections as a new party,” he said.

Asked whether they would take over the UNP, the SJB General Secretary said they did what the party members wanted.
“We will listen to our party members and decide on our next course of action,” he said.

Meanwhile SJB Campaign Head Harin Fernando said those who voted for the UNP at the earlier elections have accepted that SJBers are the real UNPers.
“We did not have even a proper head quarters and we were chased out from Sirikotha but we have been successful enough to win the confidence of those who voted for the UNP during earlier elections. They have understood that we are the real UNPers,” he said.

He also said the SJB will negotiate with the UNP and was willing to accept the latter as one of its allies.
